First Mesa Elementary School is a small school with a current enrollment of 137 students located on the Hopi Indian Reservation, Approximately two hours northeast of Flagstaff, Arizona. It is centered at the bottom of First Mesa, which encompasses three Hopi/Tewa Indian villages. The students that attend FMES and their families are steeped in culture and have a rich heritage. Social activities commonly enjoyed by urban and city kids are few which hinders our student growth in social interaction with a variety of people and different situations. FIrst Mesa Elementary School strongly believe in the partnership between the school and the commmunity in working toward enhancing the quality of life for our children, our community and nation
